The Amish Project is a play based on a school shooting in the Amish village of Nickel Mines, in which a gunman shot and killed five girls between the ages of 6 and 13. The 2006 incident made international news, forcing a quiet traditional culture into the spotlight of a ravenous news media, and putting Amish life and faith under worldwide scrutiny. The Amish Project traces the extraordinary path of forgiveness and compassion forged in the wake of violent horror, as a community in crisis chooses hope over vengeance. The Amish Project holds the audience spellbound, and opens us to delve into our shared humanity.
“Extraordinary… compelling… the play is also a remarkable piece of writing. —New York Times
