About 14
Incorporating, dance, physical theatre, aerial arts and video mapping, 14 is an original work about a girl growing up in a post-9/11 world. As a parent, I am aware that the world my daughter is entering is more dangerous and less stable than the one I experienced growing up. If I cannot give her a better world, I can create one through art. A life with its challenges and its joys, a journey with its obstacles and its victories. A life every parent desires for their kids, a life every young generations should inherit and where each child has the potential to realize his or her bliss.
Artistic Challenges and Potential for Artistic Innovation
14 is the continuation of AtticRep artistic research by creating performances that integrate dance, music, video, and projections in the dramatic narrative. With 14 AtticRep intends to explore new performative techniques, establishing new collaborations, and looking for diverse ways to integrate dance, aerial work, movement, text, and video into a performance. 14 has built in various exciting artistic challenges: Can we tell a story through aerial work? Can we use projections and videos to create the visual and poetic world of 14? How can we integrate movement and dance with dramatic text in a manner that clearly moves forward the story? Ultimately, can we tell a story that reaches the soul and the imagination of our audiences?
Collaborations
In order to answer these questions, I have assembled a strong group of collaborators. Among them Aerial Horizon for the aerial work Seme Jatib and Mireya Guerra for the movement and dance, and Stefano Di Buduo an expert in Virtual Scene Design and director of Aesop Studio.
