Does Size Matter? Attic Rep’s ‘The Irish Curse’ Tackles Big Question

By Mar 24, 2015

A play opens at the Tobin Center this week. and it’s got a funny premise. It’s called The Irish Curse and the play’s Director, Roberto Prestigiacamo explains it.

“It’s a comedy about a support group of men that deal with the question about whether or not size matters.”

And yes, he’s talking about what you think he’s talking about.

“By asking the question ‘does size matter?’ it attempts to answer a more fundamental question: ‘what makes a man?’”

He says the playwright Martin Casella has pulled off a nice feat.

“Martin Casella has written a very funny play, at the same time very poignant. It is a stimulating talk through comedy.”

With a good cast, he says his Directorial challenges were narrow.

“Making sure that the message of the play came through in a way that allowed our audience conversations, but also was not threatening to anyone.”

The play opens this Wednesday, and runs until Sunday, April 5th. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2:30PM at the Carlos Alvarez Theater at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.
