The Last Days of Judas Iscariot
by Stephen Adly Guirgis
Directed by Tim Hedgepeth

The production marks the South Texas premiere of the play which recently enjoyed an acclaimed run Off Broadway. Judas takes its audience into a modern day Purgatory to consider Christian faith, free will, and the destiny of the Bible’s most famous sinner. Following the play’s premiere at The Public Theater, New York Times critic Ben Brantley observed that the play “… shares many of the traits that have made Mr. Guirgis a playwright to reckon with in recent years a fierce and questing mind that refuses to settle for glib answers, a gift for identifying with life's losers and an unforced eloquence that finds the poetry in lowdown street talk.”

Fat Pig
by by Neil Labute
Directed by Roberto Prestigiacomo

Tom meets Helen. Tom is a handsome and athletic man with a successful upscale career; Helen is a good-natured, funny, sharp and a plus sized librarian. Helen and Tom are immediately attracted to each other. Have they found their soul mate and can love transcend mere appearances in the age of no carbs, nip tucks, extreme makeovers? A brutally comic and painfully honest play about the pressures of our contemporary existence and our ability to survive or succumb to them.

Back of the Throat

by Issef El Guindi
Directed by Roberto Prestigiacomo

Back of the Throat is the tale of an apparently friendly visit by two government officials, which soon devolves into a full-blown, no-holds-barred probe. Khaled, an Arab-American writer and the focus of their inquiry, finds himself, to his astonishment, suddenly accused of possible ties to terrorists. As the interrogation proceeds, the officials reveal their evidence, but is it evidence? Or have innocent events been distorted through the lens of paranoid suspicion? As the situation turns increasingly surreal, and the menace to Khaled increasingly real, the question of what it means to be an American takes on a very personal and charged significance. Back of the Throat is an enthralling and chilling black comedy.
